Size Guide
Clothing
Italian greyhounds have a non-standard build: a deep chest, narrow waist, thin neck. That's why off-the-shelf S/M/L clothing almost never fits well. Getting the perfect fit takes just a couple of minutes and a soft measuring tape.
What to measure
Chest girth
The widest part of the chest, right behind the front legs. Keep the tape snug but not tight. This is the key measurement to rely on when choosing a size.
Back length
This is a non-standard measurement because of Zikki's specially designed cut, so take it carefully.
Find the point between the shoulder blades, you'll feel a small hollow there, that's where the measurement starts. Run the tape along the spine to the base of the tail; you'll need to feel for this point too, gently lifting the tail can help you find it exactly. The dog should be standing straight: measuring a dog that's lying down or curled up will give an inaccurate result.
Size chart
One chart works for both girl fit and boy fit: the dog's measurements are the same, only the cut of the garment differs.
| Size | Chest (cm) | Back length (cm) | Chest (in) | Back length (in) | Approximate weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 37-40 | 29-32 | 14.6-15.7 | 11.4-12.6 | ≈ 3-4 kg |
| S | 42-44 | 33-36 | 16.5-17.3 | 13.0-14.2 | ≈ 4-5 kg |
| M | 46-49 | 37-40 | 18.1-19.3 | 14.6-15.7 | ≈ 5.5-7 kg |
| L | 50-53 | 41-43 | 19.7-20.9 | 16.1-16.9 | ≈ 7.5-8.5 kg |
Weight is approximate and for reference only. Choose your size based on chest and back length, not weight.
If you're unsure, or your dog is "between sizes"
Go by chest girth first. This is the most important measurement. If the chest matches one size but the back length matches another, choose based on the chest.
If you're still not sure
Email us, and we'll either help you find the right size or make the piece to your dog's exact measurements.
If your dog's measurements fall within our standard size chart, a custom-made piece costs the same as a regular size. If your dog is larger than our standard range (a whippet, for example), the cost is calculated separately, we'll let you know once you get in touch.
We make clothing not just for Italian greyhounds, but for whippets and other breeds on request, just email us or message us on Instagram.
Puppies and growth
Puppies grow fast, so in the first few months it's worth re-measuring them every 2-4 weeks to make sure their clothing always fits their current shape, not "room to grow" or too small.
Frequently asked questions
What if the clothing turns out to be too small or too big? Get in touch and we'll help you exchange it for a different size.
Does the size differ for a boy and a girl Italian greyhound? The measurements in the chart are the same for both; what differs is the cut: Zikki's girl fit and boy fit are each adapted to the needs of that sex.

Collars
The right collar size isn't just about style, it's what keeps your dog comfortable and safe.
Italian greyhounds often have a head narrower than their neck, so a collar can slip off easily. That's why you should measure not the widest part of the neck, but the narrowest: right behind the ears, under the jaw.
Wrap a soft measuring tape around the neck at that point and check that two fingers slide underneath with light resistance, not loosely and not tightly. That's the measurement to use. If you're between sizes, choose the snugger one: extra slack is riskier for Italian greyhounds.
